One designer i ADORE (as all my friends do know) is MARC JACOBS. Since his day at Perry Ellis (where he got fired in the 90's) until today where he is headdesigner for his Emperium Marc Jacobs (which contains of the Collection, Marc by Marc and Little marc) and also is Headdesigner/ Creative Director for LOUIS VUITTON. In the January of American Vogue, Anna Wintour writes about a speech that Marc held recently at an event.
" As he (Marc) wryly recounted firing after firing, business downturn after downturn, the crazy working hours, and the battles with drugs and alcohol, what became clear was that a commitmentto a singular point of view is the never-easy path but, ultimately, the most rewarding" As Anna then says: "...great style, and a great career, can come ONLY from being true to one's self, one's taste, ONE'S VALUES. That's a a small New Years Resolution, COURTESY OF MJ."
YES, that is ONE New Years Resolution for sure. That will be my second.
BUT it does ring true, Marc Jacobs keeps "his" TEAM (the ones that works for him) very HAPPY!! The company is GREAT to work for. And I do KNOW this. Since I have friends working for him. A great grade is, People who STAY within your company, and HERE THEY DO!!!!!!!!
I have to say that MARC JACOBS together with his teammate: Robert Duffy are as a complete (the creative and the businessy) my HEROES.
