Junya Watanabe

showed variations on a single look - high socks, buster keaton or porkpie hats - that did not always pass the laugh test. here, waist-up this look is street-legal, in fact it's almost staten island club guy, in a cute non-steroid way. men have to be careful of wearing too many hats with too short a brim or with an upturn brim. the look started out as a hollywood trick (first used on movie cowboys) so shade from a hat wouldn't hide the face from a camera. something slightly more shading can be both trendy-looking and respected in the heartland. rule is, if you are wearing it to a shady pony track, you are OK. if you are wearing it to a trendy paris club and want to "wear the shady pony track look," you have already jumped the shark.
