Tartan.

From:

www.tartans.scotland.net

i found this info, for the ones of you who does not know about scottland and its traditions:

Tartans were originally a style of cloth intended to be decorative. They had patterns that were popular within certain districts of manufacture, they relied on a limited range of colour dyes and were made of the local coarser type of wool.

This has lead to the idea of district tartans being the original association, between the land, the community and its cloth.

When tartan was proscribed by law, the Government or Black Watch pattern was the only legally one. This was used by the regiments raised within Scotland, forming the basis of the regimental tartans.

By the early 1800s, it was realised that the knowledge of tartans before the ´45 was being lost and, simultaneously, there was a romantic movement concerning Scotland's past.Tartans were reconstructed from portraits, collected on pilgrimages, demanded from clan chiefs and recovered from weaver's notes.

victorian, highlands, greens, beautys and tartans. that is scottland for me. Full of wonder and fantasies. My first real big love was a scott by heritage and funnily enough i found a second scott, Mr. Laing, to get to know. I wonder if he knows witch craft? or is that just for the ladies? (hihi) He's the handsome guy at the top of this post.

My Hero is MR. McQueen. Whatever he puts his hands to becomes Beauty in my eyes. One influence Mr. McQueen often has is the one of tartan. Both in his rtw collection and his second line McQ. One amazing show he did was that of Fall 2006. Totally madly in love with victorian beauty and The tartan. I WANTED that whole collection.

Comme des Garcon's deconstructed versions (fall 2006) with the faces of the fairytale witch in Narnia ( miss Tilda Swinton).

Nicolas Ghesquire's tribute Balenciaga collection fall 2006 gave us a wonderfully Couture like tartan skirt suit with a riding hat to top the cool beautiful outfit off.

Mr Jacobs fall 2004 collection for Louis Vuitton was to DIE for. I WANTED that whole complete collection in my house. Spell this: LADY.

Darkness with whiteness and magic. Is this a Scottland only in my magical mind?
