A Conversation with Polina Barskaya!

I got to know Polina a few years ago when I had just moved back to Sweden from New York! We created a series of portraits of Alice. I styled and Alice photographed herself which I emailed to Polina who painted the most Beautiful paintings. You can view some of them HERE. She's is an Artiste!!! I LOVE this darling's work! Hope you'll enjoy my little interview with her. She just graduated from Pratt Institute in NY with a Fine Arts degree, so CONGRATULATIONS is what I want to say to her:)

Any Guilty pleasures? Nostalgia

What inspires you?
I am inspired by other artists. Right now I am looking at Peter Doig a lot. You can really tell when an artist is more concerned with pushing their work then fitting into the moment. Very well packaged work makes me nervous.

What would you like to come out of the future? Dreams?
I try not to think to far ahead. Today is more important and always will be. If I forget that, I will just keep waiting for something to happen later.

Any fears?
Just death, but I will get over it.

Across the Universe by The Beatles!

What do you do when not working?
I think for artists no matter what they do is work. All of the things you see and read will find their way into your work.

What is your life mantra?
"Enjoy yourself(it's later than you think)"

Love That!!!

Your worst habit?
Burping but my grandma says it is because I am still growing

Hahahaha! Lovely.

What makes you angry?
Closed-minded folk!

In my world, I love Coney Island in Brooklyn. It is one of the last places in New York that still has a little dirt around the edges.

What makes you laugh?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qR3rK0kZFkg smart and funny kids:

To stay just incompetent enough not to have a real "job" and to keep doing the only thing that makes sense.
