SPRING HAVENS, CHEKHOV, ROOM'S WITH A VIEW & SUCH WONDERS

hey wonderful spring:)

oh dear it is raining raining every single day but with goodness warmer degrees and so it will be for a little bit still. however we did have a couple of glorious springy days last week when i captured some blossoming beauties:)))

i finished war & peace by tolstoy. i have loved this book SO much. what i loved the most was the characters, and the overall happening in the history of russia & europe even thought it is detailed maybe a tiny bit too much about how history has been recorded and such thingies. but before the 2nd epilog there was a brilliant ending to the main 2 families of the book which thank goodness made it a joy. the language throughout is such poetic beauty.

as i may have mentioned i started a collection of novels as written by anton chekhov and finished the seagull which was very dramatic but too with lovely language, next up is the three sisters.
yesterday i too started listening to a room with a view by e. m forster which i am already
completely wonderfully in love with :))) and florence sounds like a magic place to be.

today though
...
i started volunteering at the haven house charity shop here in epping. it was lovely. i am to help out a few hours here and there. the staff and other volunteers are such cuteness kindness wonderful beings. and the charity is such beauty. well it's kind a sadness at the same time. to be ok with the dark and the light at the same time, i guess that is to be human. to appreciate life while at the same time accepting and dealing with grief. one can read all about the whole charity here.

the swan

did you too see it, drifting, all night, on the black river?
did you see it in the morning, rising into the silvery air-
an armfull of white blossoms,
a perfect commotion of silk and linen as it leaned
into bondage of its wings; a snowbank, a bank of lilies,
biting hte air iwth its black beak?
did you hear it, fluting and whistling
a shrill dark music - like the rain pelting the trees - like a waterfall
knifing down the black ledges?
and did you see it, finally, just under the clouds -
a white cross streaming across the sky, its feet
like black leaves, its wings like the stretching light of the river?
and did you feel it, in your heart, how it pertained to everything?
and have you too finally figured out what beauty is for?
and have you changed your life?
